The University of Pennsylvania men’s basketball team concluded their season with a loss to Princeton, 95-71, in the regular-season finale for both teams. This result leaves Penn with an overall record of 8-19 and 4-10 in Ivy League play. In contrast, Princeton advances with a 19-10 record and secures the fourth seed in the upcoming Ivy League Tournament at 8-6 in conference play.

Junior Sam Brown led Penn’s scoring efforts with 19 points, marking his consistent performance by reaching double figures in all 14 Ivy League games this season. Brown also contributed three assists and two steals. Junior Ethan Roberts continued his streak of double-digit scoring games, reaching his 20th consecutive game with 13 points.

In what was his final collegiate game, senior Nick Spinoso added 10 points, secured a team-high seven rebounds, and made three assists. Sophomore Augustus Gerhart also reached double figures for the second time this season with a contribution of 10 points. Senior George Smith ended his college basketball career with five points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Princeton’s junior guard Xaivian Lee achieved a triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. Senior Blake Peters led all scorers with 25 points during his final home game. Additional contributions came from CJ Happy with 14 points and Caden Pierce who added another 13.

The game began with early three-pointers from Roberts and Dylan Williams giving Penn a brief lead at 6-4 before Princeton responded by scoring the next twelve points to gain a significant advantage. Although Penn narrowed the gap to three at one point following a Smith three-pointer that brought the score to 23-20, Princeton pulled away again ending the first half leading by thirteen at halftime.

Spinoso scored early in the second half but could not change the course as Princeton maintained control throughout. A decisive moment occurred when Princeton executed a quick ten-point run within two minutes extending their lead to twenty-six points over Penn.

The Quakers’ season has now concluded for the year.
