Penn College’s women’s tennis team experienced a 5-2 defeat in a nonconference match against Lock Haven University on Wednesday in South Williamsport, Pa. The loss places the Wildcats at 2-8 overall, while Lock Haven improves to 2-5.
During the match, Penn College secured two of six singles matches and one of three doubles matches. In singles play, Faith Murray achieved victory in the No. 2 position with scores of 3-6, 6-1, 10-8, and Cierra Miller triumphed at No. 4 with scores of 7-5, 5-7, 11-9. The Wildcats’ sole win in doubles competition came from Ellen Buckley and Faith Murray, who teamed up at No. 1 for a 6-1 result.
Looking ahead, both the women’s and men’s teams of Penn College will be traveling to face Penn State Abington in a United East match scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
