Penn College women’s volleyball falls to Wilson in conference match

Penn College’s women’s volleyball team lost 3-1 to Wilson College in a United East Conference match on Saturday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. With this result, the Wildcats’ conference record stands at 2-6, and their overall record is 5-20. Wilson, meanwhile, earned its first conference and overall win of the season, improving to 1-7 in the conference and 1-20 overall.

Wilson took control early, winning the first two sets 25-23 and 25-14. Penn College responded in the third set, opening with a 4-0 run and later extending their lead with a 9-0 streak to make it 16-5. Nashalie Vializ and Taryn Smith each contributed service aces late in the set, and two errors by Wilson closed out the 25-17 set win for the Wildcats. However, Wilson secured the match by winning the fourth set 25-18.

Ellen Banfill recorded her second consecutive double-double, finishing with 24 assists and 14 digs. Nashalie Vializ led the team with 24 digs and added two service aces. Haylie Thomsen contributed 13 digs and a team-high three aces.

Penn College will finish its regular season at home, facing Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Rosemont on Saturday at 1 p.m., as the team continues to pursue a playoff spot.
