Penn College women’s soccer secures third seed with win over Cedar Crest

Penn College’s women’s soccer team achieved a decisive 7-0 win over Cedar Crest in Allentown on Sunday, closing out the regular season. The victory featured seven different goal scorers and secured the Wildcats the third seed in the United East Conference postseason. Penn College ended conference play with a 7-1-0 record and an overall mark of 14-2-2, while Cedar Crest finished at 2-5-0 in conference and 3-11-0 overall.

Mikayla Gordon opened scoring for Penn College in the second minute, assisted by Olivia Casella. Sara Darlington added her team-leading 18th goal in the 17th minute, followed by Sara Pecchia’s goal in the 22nd minute to give the Wildcats a 3-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Sierra Klinger scored in the 53rd minute, Ella Garman found the net in the 58th, Olivia Herman scored in the 67th, and Cadence Holmberg added another just a minute later. The match was called after 70 minutes.

Goalkeeper Morgan Solano made two saves to earn her third shutout of the season. Gordon contributed four points with one goal and two assists. Garman had three points, and Rylee Oliphant provided two assists.

Penn College will next host sixth-seeded Penn State Abington in a United East Quarterfinal match on Saturday; game time is yet to be announced.
