Third-seeded Penn College was eliminated from the United East Women’s Soccer semifinals after a 2-0 defeat against second-seeded St. Mary’s on Tuesday evening in St. Mary’s City, Maryland. This loss concludes the Wildcats’ 2025 season with a record of 15 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws. The victory allows St. Mary’s to advance to the Championship game for the second year in a row, improving their season record to 13-6-2.
The match saw St. Mary’s score both goals in the first half, with strikes coming in the ninth and thirty-fifth minutes. Early in the game, Penn College had an opportunity from a corner kick by Sara Darlington in the ninth minute, but her attempt went just right of the net.
Darlington managed two additional shots at 28:18 and 29:12, but both were saved by St. Mary’s goalkeeper. In the second half, Penn College was unable to register any shots on goal and managed only four shots overall during that period.
Goalkeeper Morgan Solano recorded eight saves for Penn College during the match. St. Mary’s outshot Penn College by a margin of 16-8 and held a significant advantage with ten shots on target compared to two for Penn College.
