Penn College women’s soccer advances to semifinals after quarterfinal win over Penn State Abington

Third-seeded Penn College defeated sixth-seeded Penn State Abington 6-0 in the United East Women’s Soccer Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This win advances the Wildcats to the semifinal round for the second consecutive season, improving their overall record to 15-2-2. Penn State Abington concludes its season with a record of 6-10-2.

Sara Darlington led the Wildcats with a first-half hat-trick, scoring goals in the sixth, 38th, and 40th minutes. Brooke Klinger added her 13th goal of the season just before halftime in the 44th minute, giving Penn College a 4-0 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Makayla Bucks scored in the 68th minute and Rylee Oliphant found the net in the 83rd minute as Penn College secured a comfortable victory.

Assists were provided by Ella Garman, Mikayla Gordon, and Ella Gamble. Goalkeeper Morgan Solano made three saves to keep a clean sheet.

Penn College outshot Abington with 21 attempts (15 on target) and took six corner kicks while restricting their opponents to five shots and three corners.

The Wildcats will face either #2 St. Mary’s or #7 Notre Dame in Tuesday’s semifinal match scheduled for November 4.
