Penn College’s women’s cross-country team finished second out of four teams at the Lebanon Valley College Last Chance Invitational held in Annville, Pennsylvania, on Friday. The men’s team placed fourth among six teams.
In the women’s 6K race, Alexis Durn led Penn College with a fifth-place finish out of 39 runners, clocking a time of 26:30. Elaina Brady finished 10th in 27:32, Ellie Miller was 11th in 28:16, Natalie Greiner came in 16th at 29:40, Gwynn Johnson placed 25th in 31:42, and Isabella Telford finished 38th in 40:25.
The women’s team standings were Monroe University with 41 points, Penn College with 43, Penn State Schuylkill with 60, and Penn State Altoona with 69. Faith Sullivan from Penn State Shenango won the individual title with a time of 24:46.
For the men’s 8K race, Holden Furey was the top finisher for Penn College, placing 15th among 55 runners in 28:50. Ben Causak followed in 17th at 28:59, Mitchell Campbell was 18th in 29:05, Jacob Parker took 25th in 29:55, and Ethan Knapp finished 26th in 30:11. Other Penn College finishers included Chase Ebeling (28th, 30:26), Oliver Galicki (30th, 30:30), Aaron Guerrisky (31st, 31:25), Ben Heym (32nd, 31:46), Owen Troop (37th, 32:15), Matthew Wheeland (40th, 32:27), Nathan Love (48th, 36:47), and Jackson Small (49th, 37:05).
In the men’s team competition, Lebanon Valley scored 31 points to win, followed by Monroe University and DeSales with 69 points each, Penn College with 91, Penn State DuBois with 132, and Penn State Scranton with 145. Nkanyezi Ziqubu of Monroe University took the men’s individual title with a time of 25:31.
The next event for Penn College will be the United East Conference Championships scheduled for Saturday, November 1, with the women’s race at 11 a.m. and the men’s race at noon.
