Penn College wins The Bear golf tournament; Redmond ties for second

Penn College secured first place at The Bear golf tournament held at Berkleigh Golf Club in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, finishing with a team score of 607 over two days. The event featured ten teams and 52 individual players.

After the first round on Friday, Penn College led the field with a score of 305, four strokes ahead of Albright “B”. Brady Handy was fifth individually after shooting a 74, while Gunner Redmond was tied for sixth with a 75. On Saturday, the Wildcats improved their performance by three strokes, posting a 302 to maintain their lead and win by four strokes.

Redmond finished strong with an even-par 72 in the final round, tying for second place overall at 147—just one stroke behind Ian Love of Villanova, who won medalist honors with a total score of 146. Handy ended the tournament tied for seventh after carding a 77 on Saturday for a total of 151. Other notable performances for Penn College included Chase Dillman (78-75—153), Brett Keenan (78-78—156), and Logan Gawlinski (82-78—160).

The team standings saw Penn College finish ahead of Albright “B” (611) and Ursinus (624). Only the lowest four scores from each team counted toward the overall team totals.

Penn College will next compete in the Battle at Bulle Rock in Havre de Grace, Maryland, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
