Penn College lost a close men’s lacrosse game, 16-15 in overtime, to Kean College on Apr. 8 at UPMC Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Wildcats’ record moved to 10-4 while the Cougars improved to 7-7.
The match was significant for both teams as it was a nonconference game that came down to the final moments. Kean scored three unanswered goals late, including the winning goal with less than two minutes left in overtime after tying the game with just four seconds remaining in regulation.
Kean began the night with a four-goal lead before Elliot Dotson assisted his brother AJ Dotson for Penn College’s first goal. The Wildcats then closed the gap further through goals by AJ Dotson, Owen Kupsey, Aidan McFalls and others, ending the first quarter trailing by only one goal. By halftime, Penn College led 10-8 following additional scores from McFalls and Kupsey.
Elliot Dotson led Penn College with seven points on three goals and four assists. AJ Dotson added a goal and four assists while both Kupsey and McFalls each scored five times. Antonio Santora won 21 of his 32 faceoff attempts and Ryan Twist made ten saves for the Wildcats. The team took a total of 65 shots compared to Kean’s 37 but ultimately could not secure victory.
