Penn College’s men’s and women’s tennis teams played United East matches against Cairn University on Wednesday in Langhorne, Pa. The men’s team emerged victorious with a 6-1 score, while the women’s team was defeated 5-2. Following this match, Penn College men’s team holds a record of 2-3 in the United East and 3-8 overall, whereas Cairn’s men’s team stands at 1-4 in both United East and overall.

The men’s victory saw the Wildcats win five out of six singles matches and sweep all three doubles contests. Key performances in singles matches included Kyle Shuler at No. 1, John Finnegan at No. 2, Alex Norris at No. 3, Logan Ogden at No. 4, and Seth Priestman at No. 5. In doubles, the teams of Norris-Finnegan, Ogden-Angel San Juan, and Priestman-Matt Williams secured wins at their respective positions.

Conversely, the women’s team faced defeat as Cairn won four singles and two doubles matches. For Penn College, Lauren Peck at No. 2 and Faith Murray at No. 3 were the single match winners. In doubles, the pairing of Peck-Kayla Weinzierl achieved the team’s sole victory.

Penn College is set to host Lancaster Bible College for their next United East encounter, scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m.
