SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Penn College tennis teams concluded their United East regular season on Saturday night with mixed outcomes against Lancaster Bible College. The men’s team secured a decisive 6-1 victory, while the women’s team faced a 6-0 defeat. Regardless, both teams managed to secure spots in the postseason, which begins Tuesday for the women and Saturday for the men.

For the men’s team, they improved their record to 3-3 in the UE and 4-8 overall by winning five out of six singles matches and two out of three doubles matches. Lancaster Bible College’s men fell to 2-5 UE and 4-12 overall. Key singles victories for Penn College included Kyle Shuler’s 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1, and Alex Norris’s 6-2, 6-1 performance at No. 2. Norris and John Finnegan also teamed up for a victory in No. 1 doubles, winning 7-5.

On the women’s side, Lancaster Bible dominated by taking five singles and two doubles matches, leaving Penn College with a 2-6 UE and 2-13 overall record. Lancaster’s women advanced to 6-2 UE and 9-7 overall. Penn College’s lone victory came in the form of Ellen Buckley and Faith Murray’s No. 1 doubles win.

The men’s team will next compete at St. Mary’s (Md.) College at 4 p.m. on Monday, while the women’s team will participate in the United East play-in at Penn State Abington on Tuesday at a time yet to be determined.
