The Penn College tennis teams, under coach David Straub, entered the United East Conference playoffs as third seeds on April 25, hosting matches at the Central PA Tennis Center in South Williamsport. Both the men’s and women’s squads achieved some of their best records this season, with the men posting a 5-2 conference record and tying their program-best seven overall wins ahead of a nonconference match against McDaniel College.
This success is notable for Penn College Wildcats, who compete in NCAA Division III athletics within the United East Conference according to the official website. The men’s team faced sixth-seeded Lancaster Bible College in its playoff opener after previously defeating them earlier in April. The winner will move on to play St. Mary’s (Md.) College.
The women’s team also set new records with six conference wins and seven overall victories—the highest since at least 2013-14. In their playoff opener, they played seventh-seeded Penn State Brandywine after losing narrowly to them during regular season play due to forfeits. Their winner will face second-seeded Penn State Harrisburg.
Throughout the season, both teams used various lineups based on player availability. Standout performances included Kyle Shuler and Josh Myers for the men and Faith Murray and Keira Wene for the women across singles and doubles matches.
