Penn College triumphed over Saint Elizabeth with a 14-8 win in a nonconference baseball game held in Morristown, New Jersey, on Sunday. This victory marks the fifth consecutive win for the Wildcats, enhancing their record to 11-8, while the Eagles’ record slipped to 11-12.

During the game, Penn College initially took a lead with Shawn Townsend’s RBI single in the first inning. However, Saint Elizabeth responded by scoring five runs over the next three innings, pulling ahead 5-1. Penn College recaptured and maintained the lead by securing five runs in the fourth inning and continued to score in each subsequent inning. Key plays in the fourth included contributions from Anthony Barbella, Logan Hinnershitz, Brandon Shane, Matt Munoz, and an error.

In the following innings, Jaydon Goebel and Hinnershitz helped extend Penn College’s lead to 8-5 through critical plays. Townsend, Ethan Stahl, and Goebel added further runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, respectively, stretching the lead to 11-5. Although the Eagles answered with three runs in the eighth, Penn College matched this in the ninth with RBI walks from Townsend, Goebel, and Barbella.

Dallas Griess had an impactful performance, reaching base all six times he batted, achieving three hits, three walks, scoring four runs, and stealing two bases. Townsend contributed significantly with a 4-for-5 record, including two doubles and three RBIs, while both Hinnershitz and Shane completed the game with two hits each.

Pitcher Rowan Gorusch improved his record to 1-1 after delivering 3.1 innings, permitting one run from three hits and achieving three strikeouts alongside two walks. Parker White pitched 1.2 hitless innings, securing his second save of the season.

The Wildcats are scheduled to return to action on Monday at 1 p.m., hosting Mt. Aloysius.
