Penn College’s men’s tennis team faced a challenging contest at St. Mary’s (Md.) College, resulting in a 6-1 defeat during a United East makeup match. This outcome brought Penn College’s conference record to 3-4 and an overall standing of 4-9. Meanwhile, St. Mary’s advanced their record to 6-1 in the United East and 10-5 overall.

In the match details, St. Mary’s secured victories in five out of six singles matches and swept all three doubles matches against their opponent. The sole point for Penn College came from Matt Williams, who triumphed in a tight No. 6 singles match, winning 7-6, 4-6, and a 10-8 tiebreaker.

Looking ahead, Penn College, seeded fifth for the playoffs, is scheduled to play against fourth-seeded Penn State Berks at a time yet to be determined on Saturday. The victor of this matchup will move on to face top-seeded Penn State Harrisburg in a semifinal match, which is set for Tuesday, April 29, with timing still to be confirmed.
