Penn College faced a 15-9 defeat in a nonconference men’s lacrosse match against Montclair State University on Saturday. The Wildcats now hold a record of 0-2, while Montclair State begins their season at 1-0. The six-goal difference marked the closest margin in three lifetime encounters between these teams, with Montclair winning all matches.

The game began with Penn College taking an early 3-0 lead in the first period, led by Elliot Dotson who scored twice. However, Montclair responded with six consecutive goals. Penn managed to level the score at 6-6, with Dotson contributing another goal and two assists. After another tie at 7-all, Montclair took an 8-7 lead into halftime.

Montclair extended their advantage in the second half by scoring three goals in the third period and four more in the fourth. Dotson recorded another assist during the third period and scored unassisted in the fourth to close out his contributions for the day.

Dotson ended the match with seven points from four goals and three assists. For Montclair State, Ethan Mounier and Max Morosoff each scored four goals. In terms of statistics, Montclair led with 34 shots on goal compared to Penn’s 25 and had more ground balls at 52 to Penn’s 37. Levi Borkowski from Penn collected nine ground balls and won 12 of his 20 faceoffs. Ryan Twist made a notable contribution with 19 saves as goalkeeper for Penn College.

Looking ahead, Penn College is set to play Juniata College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
