The Penn College men’s golf team secured a win at the Bellport Long Island Invitational on April 18, with four of its golfers finishing among the top five individuals in a six-team competition held at Bellport Country Club.
This result highlights the team’s strong performance as it prepares for upcoming tournaments. The Wildcats’ success was led by Gunner Redmond, who finished first among 32 players on the par-71, 6,325-yard course. Chase Dillman placed second, Brady Handy came in fourth, and Logan Gawlinski took fifth place. Brett Keenan also contributed to the team’s effort with a 17th-place finish.
Redmond posted rounds of 74 and 74 for a total score of 148. Dillman shot rounds of 78 and 74 (152), Handy scored 77 and 78 (155), while Gawlinski finished with scores of 79 and 77 (156). Keenan completed his rounds with an overall score of 168. Only the lowest four individual scores counted toward Penn College’s team total.
Penn College recorded a team score of 611 (308-303), finishing ahead of host St. Joseph’s at 627 (316-311), FDU Florham at 651 (324-327), SUNY Old Westbury at 662 (332-330), Mount St. Mary’s (N.Y.) at 671 (317-354), and SUNY Purchase at 868 (422-446).
