Penn College’s men’s golf team finished in 12th place out of 16 teams at the Swarthmore Invitational held at White Manor Country Club on March 30 and 31.
The tournament is an important part of the college golf season, giving teams a chance to compete against regional opponents and assess their progress. The event took place on a par-71, 6,699-yard course over two days.
The Wildcats posted a team score of 318 in Sunday’s opening round, followed by rounds of 313 and 310 during Monday’s play. Brady Handy led Penn College with rounds of 77, 79, and 75 for a total score of 231, tying for 36th among the field. Gunner Redmond shot scores of 84, 73, and 75 for a total of 232 and tied for the 39th spot. Logan Gawlinski recorded rounds totaling to a score of 238 and tied for the position at number fifty-two. Chase Dillman finished with a combined score of 240 in three rounds to place fifty-ninth. Dan Sbei completed his three rounds with a total score of two hundred fifty-eight and tied for seventy-seventh place.
Dickinson won the invitational with an overall team score of eight hundred seventy-two (+20), led by Collin McMahon-Shea who was medalist after shooting rounds totaling two hundred ten (-3). Other top finishers included Franklin & Marshall (884), Tufts (886), Swarthmore (892), Skidmore (903), Farmingdale State (906), Stevens Institute (908) and York (915).
