Penn College’s baseball team fell to Penn State Brandywine with a score of 7-3 in a United East Conference game on Monday. The Wildcats’ record now stands at 9-4 in the conference and 16-15 overall. Meanwhile, the Lions sit at 2-11 in the conference, holding an overall record of 6-25.

Penn State Brandywine took an early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning. In response, Nathan Gustkey tied the game in the third inning with a two-run single, bringing home Jaiden Augustine and Brandon Shane.

However, Penn State Brandywine added three more runs in the fifth inning. Levi Purnell then hit his third home run of the series in the sixth inning, reducing the score difference to 6-3. The Lions managed another run in the seventh inning, and stifled the Wildcats’ comeback attempts in the last two innings.

Shawn Townsend was notable for the Wildcats, leading the hitting effort with two hits, including a double. The team had six hits in total and left 10 players on base throughout the game.

Looking ahead, Penn College will travel to face Pitt-Bradford in their final nonconference doubleheader of the season on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
