Penn College lost 3-0 to Penn State Harrisburg in a United East men’s soccer match on Saturday at UPMC Field. With this result, the Wildcats finished their regular season with a conference record of 4-2-2 and an overall record of 9-6-2. The Nittany Lions improved to 7-0-1 in the conference and matched the Wildcats’ overall record.
Harrisburg scored its first goal in the eighth minute and added another in the 16th minute. The final goal came late in the match, during the 79th minute. Penn College had one significant opportunity to score when Cooper Smith took a shot in the 66th minute, but it was saved.
Statistically, Harrisburg outshot Penn College 9-4, including a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. They also led corner kicks with six compared to three for Penn College. Wildcats goalkeeper Justin Crismale made two saves during the match.
Looking ahead, Penn College enters the United East playoffs as the No. 5 seed and will have a first-round bye. The team is scheduled to travel to face No. 4 seed Notre Dame of Maryland next Saturday.
