Penn College baseball faced a challenging game against Lancaster Bible, ending in a 22-10 defeat in a nonconference match on Friday afternoon. This result leaves the Wildcats with a record of 0-3, while the Chargers improve to 4-2.

The Wildcats took an early lead in the first inning when Shawn Townsend hit a two-out double and scored following Levi Purnell’s single to left field. However, Lancaster Bible responded by scoring three runs in their half of the inning and added two more in the second, securing a 5-1 advantage.

In the third inning, Nathan Gustkey hit his first home run since April 10, 2023, bringing Penn College closer with a score of 5-3. The Chargers then had an impressive performance, scoring 14 runs in the bottom of the same inning.

Both teams went scoreless in the fourth inning. The Wildcats managed three runs each in the fifth and sixth innings and one more at the top of the seventh. Meanwhile, Lancaster Bible added two runs in their fifth inning and one more in their sixth.

Nathan Gustkey ended with an outstanding performance going 4-for-4 at bat with two home runs, three runs scored, and five RBIs. Kevin Cute contributed by batting 3-for-4 with an RBI. Additionally, Townsend, Purnell, and Dallas Griess each recorded two hits for Penn College.
