Penn College archers recently excelled at the Eastern Region Outdoor Championships held in Harrisonburg, Virginia, on April 26-27. The team secured two gold medals, one silver, and two bronze medals.
“They looked very strong,” said Penn College archery coach Dustin Bartron. The event saw three archers from the college — Brady Buriak, Casey Keiter, and Josiah Hinojos — receive All-East honors.
The men’s compound team comprising Buriak, Emery Gunsallus, and Colby Dell took home a gold medal. Another gold was won by the men’s fixed pins team consisting of Keiter, Hinojos, and Wyatt Steigerwalt.
Individually, Gunsallus earned a silver medal in the men’s compound category. Buriak and Keiter both achieved bronze medals in their respective categories: men’s compound for Buriak and men’s fixed pins for Keiter.
Commenting on the team’s performance and future prospects, Coach Bartron stated, “They are in great shape going into nationals in Michigan later this month. We have work to do over the next two weeks to prepare for teams from outside our region. This group’s chemistry, willingness to work and commitment to success will pay off.”
The Wildcats are now preparing for the USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals scheduled to take place in Lansing, Michigan from May 16-18.
