Josiah Hinojos secured a podium finish for the Penn College archery team during its season opener at the Easton Collegiate Trophy Tournament on January 24 in Manheim, Pennsylvania.
Hinojos finished second in the men’s bowhunter event. Other notable performances included Casey Keiter, who placed fourth in men’s bowhunter; Roman Moss, sixth in men’s barebow; Cooper Goldring, sixth in men’s recurve; Liz Gruodis, seventh in female barebow; Collin Ankney, seventh in men’s compound; Cannon Youndt, eighth in men’s compound; Anthony Olenchak, tenth in men’s bowhunter; and Hailey Penney, tenth in female bowhunter.
Coach Dustin Bartron commented on the team’s performance: “We had many first-time collegiate competition archers. I am very impressed with how they represented us and were able to meet the challenges and keep their composure. The nerves were extremely high at this event, and it showed.”
The Penn College archery team is scheduled to compete next at the USA Archery Indoor Championships on February 14-15 in Lancaster.
