Nearly $1.7 million has been allocated to recreation projects in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2). The funding was announced by State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative Clint Owlett.

“Investing in our local parks and recreation facilities enhances quality of life and strengthens our communities,” said Yaw. “These improvements will provide families and residents with safe, modern spaces to enjoy for years to come and I’m thankful to Rep. Owlett for working with me to secure this funding.”

Owlett added, “I’m pleased to see the Commonwealth invest in some of our local parks and community pools, as they are great places to go to connect with family members, friends and neighbors. It’s always a pleasure to work with Sen. Yaw and our local officials to support these initiatives that contribute so much to our region.”

Wellsboro Borough received the largest share at $1.2 million for upgrades at the Wellsboro Community Pool. Planned work includes renovation of pool systems, decking, construction of an ADA accessible bench, and new water features.

Other funded projects include Blossburg Borough’s Island Park Rehabilitation ($412,400), Elkland Borough’s Community Park Master Site Development Plan ($25,000), and Mansfield Borough’s Community Swimming Pool Feasibility Study ($44,700).

The C2P2 program is supported by state and federal sources such as the Keystone Recreation Fund (Key 93), Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF), Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), Pennsylvania Trails Fund (PRT), Heritage Area Program (HA), and ATV Restricted Management Account Fund.
