Rep. Jamie Flick announced a grant of $57,350 to Montgomery Borough, received from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s Boating Facility Grant Program. This funding is allocated for the repair of the Montgomery Borough boat launch on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.
The planned enhancements aim to improve accessibility, aligning with Americans with Disabilities Act standards. The refurbishments will include the rehabilitation of the existing launch facilities for both motorboats and non-motorized boats, as well as some asphalt patching.
“Accessibility to the river is important, and this funding will help improve the launch and boaters’ experience,” Flick stated, expressing his gratitude towards the PFBC’s recognition of the project’s significance and their provision of necessary resources to ensure both access and safety for everyone.
This grant represents the first round of awards under the Boating Facility Grant Program, which supports the planning, acquisition, development, expansion, and rehabilitation of public boating facilities throughout the Commonwealth. The program is funded primarily through boat registration fees and state motorboat fuel taxes, aiming to provide recreational boaters in Pennsylvania with high-quality and convenient facilities.
