Penn College softball player Mackenzi Tice was named United East Pitcher of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference office on Apr. 13. This marks the second time this season that Tice has received this honor.

The recognition highlights Tice’s strong performance during a demanding week in which Penn College played five doubleheaders. The sophomore pitcher achieved a 5-1 record, recording 48 strikeouts and allowing only eight earned runs over 36 innings.

Tice posted a 1.56 earned run average and limited opposing hitters to a .176 batting average across six appearances. Her standout performance occurred against Penn State Berks, where she struck out 11 batters and came within one walk of pitching a perfect game in a 9-0 win on Saturday. She also contributed three relief innings for another win against Berks and secured a complete game victory versus Penn State Abington earlier in the week with a combined total of 14 strikeouts.

Additionally, Tice tallied ten strikeouts in a shutout victory at Mount Aloysius on Thursday, helping her team secure another nonconference win.

Tice’s achievements underscore her role as an important member of the Wildcats’ pitching staff during their busy schedule.
