Penn College pitcher Mackenzi Tice was named the final United East Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the regular season, according to an April 27 announcement from the conference. Tice, who is from Mansfield, Pennsylvania, finished her week with a 3-0 record and a 0.54 earned run average over 16 innings pitched.
The recognition highlights Tice’s strong performance as she allowed only one earned run and struck out 27 batters while limiting opposing hitters to a .200 batting average. Her standout moment came during a five-inning complete-game shutout against Keystone, where she gave up just one hit and recorded 11 strikeouts.
Tice continued her successful week with a complete-game win against Penn State Harrisburg in game one of their series. She allowed only one earned run across seven innings and struck out seven batters. In game two against the Lions, she made a dominant relief appearance by striking out seven more over three scoreless innings.
Her efforts during these games helped her set a program single-season record with 18 victories. The award marks an important achievement for both Tice and Penn College softball as they conclude their regular season schedule.
