Lock Haven receives $4.1 million in PENNVEST funding for wastewater system improvements

The City of Lock Haven has been approved for more than $4.1 million in loan and grant funding from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), Rep. Stephanie Borowicz and Sen. Cris Dush announced on Apr. 15.

The funds include a loan of approximately $1.24 million and a grant of nearly $2.9 million, which will be used to improve the city’s wastewater system. The upgrades are intended to increase efficiency, enhance solid debris handling, and improve the disinfection process.

“This important funding will allow Lock Haven to make significant improvements that will increase the efficiency of its wastewater system, enhance how it handles solid debris and improve the effectiveness of its disinfection process,” said Borowicz.

Dush said, “Clean, affordable and reliable drinking water is among the most fundamental needs of any community. Securing this highly competitive PENNVEST funding will help maintain an economically responsible price for customers within the City of Lock Haven and surrounding communities.”

Borowicz represents Pennsylvania’s 76th Legislative District, which covers all of Clinton County and parts of Union County; she is also noted as the first woman elected to represent this district according to her official website. She serves on committees related to agriculture, rural affairs, judiciary matters, health issues, and intergovernmental affairs according to her official website.

Borowicz’s background includes experience as a former teacher and nonprofit leader according to her official website.
