Senator Joe Picozzi (R-5) has been appointed as the vice chair of the Senate Majority Policy Committee by President Pro Tempore Kim Ward (R-39). This announcement was made today, solidifying his new role within the committee. Senator Dave Argall (R-29), who chairs the committee, expressed his support for Picozzi’s appointment.

Argall remarked, “I’m excited for Sen. Picozzi to bring the same tireless energy and incredible work ethic to this role that he has brought to Northeast Philadelphia since his historic win last year.” He continued, “The Senate Majority Policy Committee has hit the ground running this year, and we now have the perfect vice chair to continue those efforts.”

Picozzi, in response to his appointment, stated, “I am honored to be appointed as vice chair of the Senate Majority Policy Committee and to serve with Sen. Argall.” He further added, “I am proud to represent Northeast Philadelphia in this new role, bringing a fresh, forward-thinking, urban-Republican perspective from the emerging generation—one rooted in innovative ideas, creative solutions, and a commitment to thinking outside the box.”

As vice chair, Picozzi will take on responsibilities such as chairing public hearings in Argall’s absence, directing the majority caucus research efforts, and assisting with scheduling and planning public hearings that address state issues.

Picozzi is also serving as the chair of the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee. Since taking office four months ago, he has successfully guided legislation aimed at protecting transit operators through the Senate with notable bipartisan support.
