Joe Hamm, a public official from Pennsylvania, posted a series of messages on his Twitter account between January 12 and January 14, 2026, highlighting retirements in local public service and the passage of new legislation related to school nutrition.

On January 12, Hamm marked the retirement of a local fire chief by stating, “What a bittersweet moment to congratulate Chief Sam Aungst on his retirement from Williamsport Bureau of Fire. Sam has been my friend and more like an older brother to me since my days as a Junior Firefighter at Old Lycoming Twp Vol Fire Co. Sam is a true public servant – serving”.

The following day, Hamm attended another retirement event for law enforcement personnel. On January 13 he wrote, “What an honor to celebrate a man that has committed his entire life to public service! Sheriff Mark Lusk’s retirement party was packed with law enforcement, fire personnel, EMS providers, 911 Dispatchers, Judges, public officials, family and friends. Nearly 50 years in law”.

On January 14, Hamm turned his attention to federal legislation impacting schools: “It was great to celebrate with Congressman Glenn Thompson his Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act becoming law. This new law gives schools the ability to offer flavored and unflavored whole and 2% milk options during school meals. This will help ensure children receive the nutrition”.

Hamm represents Pennsylvania’s 84th Legislative District in the State House of Representatives. The Williamsport Bureau of Fire serves the city of Williamsport in Lycoming County. The “Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act,” referenced by Hamm and championed by Congressman Glenn Thompson, allows schools across the United States to provide students with additional milk options during meal times—part of ongoing efforts at both state and federal levels to address childhood nutrition in educational settings.
