Bradford County dairy farmer James Van Blarcom has been reappointed to the Pennsylvania Milk Board (PMB) by the State Senate. The announcement was made by Sen. Gene Yaw, who expressed support for Van Blarcom’s continued service.
“As a long-serving leader in Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry, Jim brings not only decades of hands-on experience as a dairy farmer, but also proven commitment to public service and advocacy,” Yaw stated. “I fully support his reappointment and look forward to the continued impact of his leadership on Pennsylvania’s dairy policy.”
Van Blarcom was first confirmed by the Senate in 2014. His nomination was submitted again this year by Governor Josh Shapiro. He manages a 500-cow dairy farm with his sons-in-law and co-owns a hog facility with his brother.
In addition to farming, Van Blarcom has served on various boards including the Bradford County Conservation District and the State Conservation Commission. He is also involved with the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and other agricultural organizations.
His work has earned him awards such as the Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Award and the Bradford County Outstanding Operator Award.
The PMB sets minimum milk prices in Pennsylvania and consists of two farmer members and one consumer member.
