State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Representative Tina Pickett (R-110) announced that $783,500 has been allocated to recreation projects in Bradford County through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).
Yaw said, “Investing in our local parks and recreation facilities enhances quality of life and strengthens our communities. These improvements will provide families and residents with safe, modern spaces to enjoy for years to come and I’m thankful to Rep. Pickett for working with me to secure this funding.”
Pickett added, “This investment will improve our community spaces for years to come. Residents should benefit from creating more outdoor recreational opportunities like the added walkways, pavilion and play equipment.”
Towanda Borough is set to receive $621,000 for rehabilitation and further development of the Third Ward Playground. The project includes constructing a pedestrian walkway, comfort station, pavilion, installing play equipment with safety surfacing, benches, fencing, lighting, and ADA access.
Wyalusing Township will receive $162,500 for developing Wyalusing Township Park. Plans include construction of pedestrian walkways, an internal loop trail and parking area as well as installation of play equipment with safety surfacing and ADA access.
The C2P2 program draws on various state and federal sources such as the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF), Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), Pennsylvania Trails Fund (PRT – federal source), Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA), and ATV Restricted Management Account Fund.
