Rep. Jamie Flick has reported that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has granted a $1.25 million loan to the Gregg Township Municipal Authority in Union County. This funding will be used for a wastewater plant construction project.

The project involves installing a disinfection system, which includes building a facility for storing and administering sodium hypochlorite and sodium bisulfite. The planned construction will house chemical storage tanks with secondary containment, chemical feed pump systems, electrical and control systems, and an emergency shower and eyewash station.

“Life is precious, and it’s critical that we do everything possible to act on every opportunity that maximizes our quality of life,” said Flick. “I applaud the Gregg Township Municipal Authority for working so diligently with me on this important issue. Today is a great day for the community, and this will go a long way to ensuring safety standards are met.”

PENNVEST, founded in 1988, provides grants and low-interest loans for the design, engineering, and construction of water distribution and treatment facilities, storm water, and wastewater projects. Further information on the PENNVEST program can be found at www.pennvest.pa.gov.
