The University of Pennsylvania has appointed David Duda, Jr. as the director of basketball operations for its men’s basketball program. Fran McCaffery, who was named head coach in April, announced the addition to his staff.
Duda previously worked with Mike Rhoades at Penn State University as a graduate assistant for two years. His background includes roles such as basketball director at iRoy Multi-Sport Complex and camp director at Competitive Edge Sports.
“Dave comes from a basketball family,” said McCaffery. “He has an impressive resume for a young guy and came highly recommended from people who are good friends that I trust in this profession. He has already shown that he’s an incredibly hard worker, and I think Dave’s going to make a great impact on our program.”
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Duda stated, “I’m extremely grateful to Coach McCaffery and the staff for giving me this opportunity at the University of Pennsylvania. I look forward to working with this group in pursuit of excellence atop the Ivy League.”
Duda played college basketball at East Stroudsburg University where he excelled academically and athletically, earning accolades such as College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors. He set a record for 3-point field-goal percentage during his senior year.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude in sport management from ESU and completed his master’s degree in higher education at PSU.
Raised in Philadelphia, Duda is part of a sports-oriented family; his father is currently the athletic director at Delaware Valley University after a career coaching college basketball. At Methacton High School, Duda was third on the all-time scoring list and held records for three-point baskets.
