A new retail superstore is set to open in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, as Bass Pro Shops plans to establish its third location in the state. The announcement was made during a county commissioners meeting and is expected to drive economic development and tourism in the region.
State Senator Gene Yaw commented on the partnership, saying, “Securing this partnership with Bass Pro Shops is a testament to unwavering commitment between our state and local officials, including the Lycoming County Commissioners, Chamber of Commerce and FamVest.” He highlighted the store’s potential impact on local tourism and recreation.
Representative Joe Hamm expressed gratitude for Bass Pro Shops’ decision to locate in Muncy Township. “Bass Pro is a world-class retailer and will integrate perfectly into our community,” he said. Hamm noted that efforts have been ongoing for two years to bring this development to fruition.
Representative Jamie Flick emphasized the project’s significance for regional economic growth. “The arrival of Bass Pro Shops at the former Lycoming Mall site marks a significant step forward for economic development and community revitalization in our area,” Flick stated. He also mentioned that strategic funding through Act 13 dollars supports this initiative without burdening taxpayers.
The store will be part of The District at Lycoming Valley, developed by FamVest Partners. It aims to serve customers from the Pennsylvania Wilds region, which includes numerous public lands and tourist spots. The opening is scheduled for January 2027 with an estimated employment of 150 people.
